Norman Blake-Directions

Let's end this year with a wonderful lp by Norman Blake, one of my all-time favorite american musician. It's called "Directions" and have been issued in 1978 by Takoma records, a label founded by guitarist John Fahey. It seems it never have been reissued on cd and it's too bad because it's a very good one. It includes a mix of instrumentals and songs, played on guitar mostly but also on mandolin ("Thebes" is a superb mandolin piece), fiddle and "Uncle Sam" has a nice brass band section at the end.
Enjoy and best wishes to all for the new year.

Thanks for posting this. All of Norman's albums should be in print. If you have Nashville Blues, it would be great if you could post that too. It's another one that's out of print.

Keep up the good work!

Absolutely a wonderful posting. I collect anything related to the world of Takoma and John Fahey. You should stop by my blog. I posted an out of print rarity from the Blue Goose label featuring John Fahey you wouldn't find anywhere else. Again, wonderful post. - Blind Cat West

Thanks - I had this on a Takoma cassette at one point and I'm glad to hear it again. It was released on CD in the 80s with Directions and Live at McCabe's on one CD. A friend had it -- maybe it was an import? Too bad I've lost touch with him.

wonderful posts. thank you so much. I can't, however, seem to find the password to unzip files.
